  • Overview

    The mission of this position is to contribute to the success of Automotive Group (the Company) by directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and retirement plan).


    KRA:  Benefit Plans And Workers’ Compensation Claims Administration

    • Collects experience data from available resources.
    • Serves as primary point-of-contact for benefit plan and workers’ compensation (workers’ comp) vendors and third party administrators. Coordinates transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration. Ensures fair and consistent plan administration. Promptly investigates discrepancies and provides guidance in non-routine situations.
    • Evaluates and revises internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
    • Documents, and maintains administrative procedures for assigned benefit and workers’ comp claims processes.
    • Assists with planning, scheduling, and directing work of the Human Resources (HR) Coordinator.
    • Ensures compliance with applicable local, State, and Federal regulations; confirms timeliness and accuracy of required filings.
    • Organizes implementation of global projects, which pertain to group benefit issues: including, but not limited to, total compensatin, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and similar.
    • Efficiently handles enrollments, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO’s), Qualified Medical Child Support Orders (QMCSO’s), distributions, loans, hardships, compliance testing, and workers’ comp claims processing.
    • Oversees maintenance of employee benefit and workers’ comp claims administration and filing with the assistance of the HR Coordinator.
    • Monthly completes benefit plan invoice reconciliations; gathers employee data and oversees the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all benefit and workers’ comp plans.
    • Implements and maintains benefit plans databases and benefit records; prepares related reports.
    • Develops and maintains benefit plan related online Compli forms, benefits enrollment, HR status change forms, HR action forms, benefits conferences, and similar, when applicable.
    • Determines proper course of action to resolve escalated customer service and workers’ comp issues, involving HR Manager and HR Director, especially for those issues which expose the Company to legal liability.
    • Interprets benefits and workers’ comp plan policies and procedures.
    • Includes HR Manager and HR Director in strategic and global issues..
    • Develops effective communication tools to enhance understanding of the Company’s benefits and workers’ comp plans.
    • Designs and distributes materials for, but not limited to, benefit orientations, open enrollment, Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary Annual Reports, and wellness events.
    • Creates and conducts presentations using audiovisual tools including PowerPoint, videos, and similar.
    • Provides training and support to HR team members and co-workers as it relates to benefit plans and workers’ comp.


    KRA:  Benefit Plans And Workers’ Compensation Claims Audits

    • Audits the accuracy and performance of functions performed by those members of the HR team assisting with benefits administration.
    • Analyzes the current benefits, evaluating the usage, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, and competitive trends in benefits programs and identifes the Company’s stance.
    • Annually performs comprehensive plan audits.
    • Monitors administrative costs of benefit and workers’ comp programs and recommends cost containment strategies, including, but not limited to, alternative methods for administration and funding.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources with emphasis on Benefits Administration, or field related to the position, or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of five (5) years’ related and progressively responsible experience.
    • PHR or SPHR, and Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) professional designations preferred.
